3 Unique Medicine Ball Throws for Golfers

Medicine balls are a unique tool in that they allow us to maximize our bodies ability to create speed and power.

Achieving peak golf fitness and striving for greater golf performance requires us to train these two physical characteristics.

At SCRATCH, we train like athletes, to become better ones!

We want to get faster.

We want to hit the ball further.

Not only is it more fun, but it GREATLY IMPROVES your scoring on the golf course.

Distance may even be MORE IMPORTANT than accuracy... 😲

Don't think so? Go read Mark Broadie's "Every Shot Counts" and then come back.

MY MOST IMPORTANT TIP FOR MED BALL THROWS

Medicine ball throws are worthless unless you have one thing...

Intent.

We should be striving to throw or slam the medicine ball AS HARD AS WE POSSIBLY CAN.

Not 90%.

Not 95%.

100%+

MAX EFFORT.

If you aren't, you might as well not do it.

3 UNIQUE MEDICINE BALL EXERCISES FOR GOLFERS

This throw variation is such a powerful expression of rotation.

I like taking the hop to build some momentum and it also forces you to utilize the lead leg as a block and rotate around it - somewhat similar to your golf swing.

Throw it hard. Throw it fast.

This variation forces us to reach a triple extension position and create a ton of vertical ground reaction forces.

Like the previous variation, it is an incredible expression of power and speed and allows us to accelerate through the entirety of the movement.

[3.] Lat throw

The latissimus dorsi muscle plays a crucial role in the creation of clubhead speed and power.

I talked more about this HERE.

This exercise gives you the opportunity to use your spine and lats to create massive amounts of power.

Create a full loading backwards onto the med ball, and proceed to let it rip forward!

CONCLUSION

Do more medicine ball throws.

Throw/slam them hard.

Get faster.

Hit bombs.
