I Want to Hit BOMBS!

Look, I want to hit bombs.

Like many of you, I recently watched the Long Drive Competition starring Bryson DeChambeau, Kyle Berkshire, and so many other incredible athletes. It was unbelievable. I was in awe.

I want to hit absolute nukes off the tee.

I’m sure many of you are in the same boat as me.

Too often I see golfers fall into the thought trap of "this brand new gadget/tool/piece of tech/etc. is going to help me gain 20 yards!"

Or maybe, "this exercise I saw on social media is going to be the game changer!!"

.

.

.

We all (myself included) need to remember to take a deep breath.

Hitting bombs is a complex puzzle. Not a one tool solution.

It’s a process; a journey; a marathon.

There are many pieces that need to fit together in order to produce elite clubhead speed and rotational power.

To name a few:

  • Technical abilities and creating an efficient golf swing that maximizes energy and velocity at impact

  • Physical preparedness and capabilities to create high level rotational power, reach large ranges of motion, and remain durable amongst the highly stressful impacts of trying to hit bombs

  • Nervous system efficiency and effectiveness to be able to ramp up and cool down one’s mental and physical state when needed

  • Emotional and cognitive health to be able to accurately perceive dynamic environments and appropriately adapt to them

  • Mental fortitude to overcome failure.. in which there will be lots when trying to swing harder

  • Underlying health habits like nutrition, hydration, and recovery are all in order

  • The list goes on and on!

All of these pieces need to fit together into the puzzle that is YOUR GOLF GAME in order to hit the biggest bombs possible.

I wish simply buying and utilizing speed sticks was the answer.

I wish simply doing some push ups was the answer.

I wish learning how to meditate effectively was the answer.

One tool isn’t a solution. It’s a piece of the complex puzzle.

Keep exploring. Keep working hard. Keep fitting together the pieces of your puzzle... and make sure training with the SCRATCH Golf Training community is one of them!

Let’s go low!
