Welcome in SCRATCH ATHLETES!
Spring is almost here.
The golf itch is so real, it's crazy.
This was me at the local sim shop a few days ago... Shout out stixgolfbar.com
Of course playing Sawgrass - It's Player's Championship week.
SO, FIRST ON THE TEE...
I want to talk about a book.
It's called The Lost Art of Playing Golf by Gary Nichol and Karl Morris.
This book is the most impactful golf book I've read and I can't recommend it highly enough ESPECIALLY at this time of year.
It's a short read.. only ~150 pages.
It's all about the attentional approach we take to the game of golf and to our golf swing.
Are we truly stepping on the course and PLAYING the game?
Get the book... it's a game changer.
As we get closer to the season, make sure to start exposing yourself to higher speeds in training!
Squat with lighter loads and faster.
Jump faster and more often.
SCRATCH athletes will start finding more power based moves in their training program during this time of year, and that's intentional.
We need to expose ourselves to higher speeds so we are ready when we take the course, and also to transfer all of those newly built physical outputs that we have created over the last 5 months.
Also, I tweeted this a few days ago... Read it. Understand it. Do it. It's important.
ARTICLE OF THE WEEK
Rotation exercises are all over social media and labeled as "golf-specific."
And I just mentioned how we should be incorporating more rotational power exercises into our training at this time of year.
But, many "golf fitness experts" add rotation to exercises where it doesn't belong...
Let's dive in.
